Since the independence of India and even more intensively following the economic re-forms in the year 1991 there are numerous and distinctive economic relationships be-tween India and Germany. These relate to both, the inter-country level, and increasingly also to private economy. In this area there are strong export relationships as well as in-vestments which in the past years continuously have shown growth rates. The signific-ance of India in the global trade will increase with its growing economic prosperity. In this context it can be expected that the Indo-German economic relationships will strengthen further. Already now for many German enterprises an engagement in the Indian market is of strategic relevance and has highest priority. Reciprocally there is a high interest of In-dian enterprises in the German market. Thereby, in particular regarding law, differences cannot be overlooked since the Indian legal system - based on the colonial times - is built upon common law principles whereas the German legal system does not follow common law.
In light of these developments Raupach has set up the India-Desk with country-specific know-how, experience as well as contacts dedicated to ensure the optimal advice to rele-vant clients and cases. The India-Desk consists of competent lawyers with specific India related expertise at various Raupach locations. The India-Desk works as contact to all legal topics both for Indian enterprises wishing to become active or already are active in Germany and German enterprises regarding their activities in India.
